What it is

Fuelnox is a fuel conditioner concentrate for fuel held in quantity. The ratio is one 10 ml capful to 40 litres, applied to the delivered volume at tank scale. It is dosed into a bulk tank, a bowser or a delivery as it lands, and everything drawn off afterwards carries it into the engines.

What it does

  • Keeps deposits from forming. Detergent moves with the fuel into whatever is filled from the tank, clearing jets, injector tips, lines and valves in service.
  • Controls water. Moisture enters with the air a tank takes in as it empties, and condenses against the walls. Fuelnox sends it out through the engine.
  • Holds stored fuel in condition. This is the size where that matters most, because stored fuel waits longest before anything burns it.
  • Lubricates. Injectors and pumps are lubricated by fuel alone, and Fuelnox adds to that in every litre drawn off.

Easier starting is the first thing owners notice, most obviously on anything held in reserve, and filter intervals settle after it. None of this is new capability. The engines are getting back what the deposits had taken, and cleaner combustion also shows as less smoke.

How to use it

Two capfuls per 40 litres the first time you treat an engine, then one capful per 40 litres at every fill after that. A capful is 10 ml.

At tank scale the ratio is applied to the delivered volume rather than measured in capfuls. Dose as the tank is filled and the incoming fuel mixes it; everything issued afterwards is already treated.

A tank that already holds untreated fuel is dosed on the incoming volume as normal. The two mix, and the proportion treated rises with each delivery.

Standby stock is treated on arrival rather than when it is needed. Fuel held in reserve is the fuel standing longest, and it starts changing from the day it is delivered.

Treat every delivery rather than occasional ones. A tank dosed only sometimes holds a mixture of treated and untreated fuel, and the untreated part behaves exactly as it always did.

What it is safe with

Diesel, petrol and two-stroke all take it, with B7, E5 and E10 covered. A single ratio means a site with mixed stock doses everything the same way and keeps one product on the shelf.

Fuel system components are unaffected by it, seals and hoses through to carburettors, catalytic converters and particulate filters. Mechanical injection and modern common rail take identical treatment. The formulation is ashless and free of sulphur, phosphorus, nitrogen and metallic ingredients, which is what anyone checks before putting a treatment into a bulk tank.

Overdosing does no harm. Where a delivery volume is estimated rather than measured, dosing generously costs nothing but product.

What it will not do

It works on the fuel and stops there. It does not restore worn parts and it does not recover anything that has already failed. A tank with a long history of neglect is worked through over successive deliveries rather than corrected by one.

Free water already standing in the bottom of a tank has to be drained before dosing. The product acts on moisture the fuel is carrying, so it stops a layer forming rather than removing an established one.

Treating a delivery costs a few litres of concentrate. A standby set that will not take load, or a tank condemned and pumped out for disposal, costs a great deal more.

This size

25 litres is 2,500 capfuls and treats 100,000 litres. It is the storage container, matched to bulk tanks, depot supply and standby stock, and it lasts through repeated deliveries. Storage is what it is for. Fuel in a bulk tank stands longer than fuel in a vehicle, and the air space above it is bigger. A standby set has a further problem: nobody finds out the fuel has gone off until the day it is needed. Where fuel is drawn engine by engine rather than held in quantity, the 5 litre fits instead.
